Club Notes - September 1st

DRIVE IN BINGO: SUNDAY OCTOBER 4TH AT 2 P.M.

Our club, in conjunction with Nagle Rice Community Pitch, is hosting a Drive in Bingo on Sunday October 4th in the grounds of The Mart Car Park. Our bingo players have been particularly hard hit with the Covid restrictions placed on bingo. Much work has been undertaken to organise this and we are delighted to be able to see all our efforts come to fruition. We will have fantastic prize money to give away. More details to follow.

We sincerely appreciate the management and committee of Mid Kerry Mart, Milltown for facilitating this. We are sure it will bring a smile to many in our community particularly the older people who have been isolated very much. Please spread the word!!

Norman and Foleys Spar have contributed greatly to our club in recent years and we wish to thank them for their continued support. We would be most appreciative if our club members support Norman’s businesses Foleys Spar here in Milltown or when travelling to games in Foleys Spar stores @ the Iveragh Road in Killorglin, the 60 seconds in Fossa & on the Castlemaine road out of Tralee. #supportlocalbusiness

COISTE NA NÓG NEWS:

UNDER 8 GIRLS:

A big well done to all of our U8 girls team on Tuesday night last, August 25th when they all played fantastic football on their visit to Spa GAA. Thank you to our hosts Spa for a wonderful evening. Míle búiochas to all the coaches for the time you put into training the girls.

UNDER 8 BOYS:

Maith thú to our U8 boys who had a wonderful morning of football in glorious sunshine on Sunday morning last in Keel GAA Grounds. Thank you very much to our hosts Keel for some great matches. Thank you also to the parents who made the trip to support, to officials for helping referee the games and to Paul Twiss for co-ordinating all these training sessions and games. Gura míle freisin to Covid Officer Liz for being there to ensure all the Covid guidelines are being adhered to. Míle búiochas as always to Foleys Spar, Milltown- our Coiste Na nÓg sponsors.

UNDER 10 BOYS:

Well done to both of our U10 teams who travelled to play Na Gaeil in Tralee on Thursday last, August 27th. All the young footballers played fantastic football on both sides with some very competitive contests on display. Sincere thanks to Na Gaeil for hosting us and to Garry Murphy and his team for all their work with this group of boys.

UNDER 10 GIRLS:

James Daly has been very busy with lots of fun training sessions organised for this group of girls. They have an outing this Wednesday evening when they travel to Spa for a game for a 6.30 throw in. This is quite a big group of girls so lots of organising behind the scenes. Go neirí go gheal libh!

Under 12 Boys:

Keel GAA Grounds was the place to be last Sunday evening where our A and B team took on St. Senan’s. It was a beautiful evening for football with the grounds of Keel GAA in pristine condition. Both our teams tried their best to the very end but the strength of St. Senan’s proved too much for the boys and so the visitors travelled back to North Kerry with 2 wins. Mike Quirke has the task of co-ordinating this extended group of footballers and along with his team of coaches is doing a super job. It is reassuring to see such encouragement, guidance and positivity on the side-lines. We appreciate all your work.

On the evening, we had excellent refereeing from our two club referees Adam Scanlon and Ger O’ Sullivan. Well done and thank you. Thanks too to Keel GAA for the use of their pitch while our own is under development.

U14’S:

On Saturday morning last, our U14 coaches Ian Twiss, Turlough O’Brien, John O’Neill accompanied by Covid Supervisor Mary Murphy took our U14 team back to Rossbeigh Beach for a training session with a difference. Lots of fitness work, lots of teamwork and lots of fun!

Well done to our U14 Green side on Tuesday evening last, who produced a fantastic footballing display to get the win against North Kerry side Ballyduff in phase 2 of this year’s County League. Some brilliant play all over the field saw them win by a score of Milltown/Castlemaine 5-23 v 3-07 to Ballyduff. Next up is Rathmore on Wednesday for the Green Team at 6.30. Our White team travelled to Keel on Wednesday evening last-August 26th and despite notching up incredible scores, they were pipped at the post. They are away to Legion on Thursday at 6.30. Please adhere to Covid guidelines re attendance.

O'NEILL'S CLUB ORDER 2020 - Delivery Update - August 27th 2020

Thank you again to everyone who ordered club merchandise in late July & early August.

The phased delivery of the merchandise is expected to arrive from the end of next week (4th September). Please note that O’Neill’s are completing the order by type (i.e. Jerseys first, the half-zips etc.) so it may take up to two weeks to have the full order available (i.e. 18th September). Once we start to receive the deliveries we will put an update on Facebook.

The fulfillment timeline is longer than expected due to the size of the order, queries over the availability of stock within O’Neill’s once the order was submitted and production issues within O’Neill’s. The club apologies for any inconvenience caused in the order being delivered in September rather than late August. If you have any questions on the O’Neill’s order please contact Liam (086 041 3593) or Suzy (087 237 2729)
