Club Notes - February 25th 2020
NORMAN FOLEY SPAR SPONSORSHIP:
Milltown/Castlemaine GAA’s Coiste Na nÓg is delighted to announce that Norman Foley- SPAR, will be our main sponsor once again this year. Norman has also committed for a further 3 years. Spar Milltown has undergone a significant investment in the past few months, with a huge transformation in the store at Lower Bridge Street. There are more developments planned for the summer of 2020. Norman also operates Spar Stores and Inver Forecourts in Fossa (Sixty Seconds), Jacko Foleys in Killorglin and Inver Foleys on the Castlemaine Road in Tralee. Norman has been the main sponsor of the Bord Na nÓg in our club since 2017. His businesses continue to be a much valued and appreciated contributor to the juvenile members of our club. SCOR NA BPAISTÍ QUIZ TEAM SELECTION:
On this Monday, February 24th at 7 p.m. in the clubhouse, we will hold a quiz to select a team to represent our club in the up-coming Scór Tráth Na gCeist. Children must be attending primary school and be a member of Milltown Castlemaine GAA Club. Four team members (with the highest score) and two subs will be selected. Medals and goodie bags for participants. Bígí ann, Bígí linn!

REGISTRATION:WEDNESDAY 6-8 p.m.
Our club registration evening takes place on this Wednesday February 26th, for all those wishing to play football with our club this year, from the Milltown/Castlemaine area, as well as those wishing to join as adult members. All players must be registered in Croke Park by March 31st. Further details available on our website and FB Page. SWAP SHOP: We will hold a swap shop on this Wednesday (February 26th) between 6 and 7 in the clubhouse. This is a great opportunity to clean out the closet and part company with either boots or playing gear that is too small and perhaps you may pick up something to fit you at the swap shop then. It’s a win win situation !! Great for recycling and for our environment not to mention the bank balance!
TAKING THE MIC
MILLTOWN CASTLEMAINE’S GAA CLUB FUNDRAISER ‘TAKING THE MIC’ Another 2 acts have been revealed. The duo of Andy Fitzpatrick and Anne-Marie Nelligan from Killorglin Community College has no doubt been busy during their mid -term break- polishing up their performance! Nagle Rice Parents Association availed of the break from homework and school routines and picked the perfect time to reveal their identity. Pauline Hynes, Cliodhna Ladden, Gina Lawlor and Suzy Doherty are the ladies behind Act 6. They join Emir, Muireann, Philip and Dave who are going under the umbrella of The Executive. Eduardo from Ashborough Lodge, Marion’s Hair Studio, Milltown-Marion O’ Shea, Caroline Barrett,Dragana Bogun and Emer Donovan and Milltown Castlemaine Mothers and Others team consisting of Adele O’ Dwyer, Margo O’ Dowd, Linda McCarthy and Deirdre O’ Sullivan. Rehearsals will commence this week with the teams meeting up with their choreographer Cassie-Let the fun begin! Our senior men’s group is due to be revealed very shortly so keep an eye on our website to see who else is up for the craic. and on our FB Page for updates. Easter Sunday Night, April 12th, 2020 at Ballygarry House Hotel is the place to be. Save the date!
Our County Minor League Division 5 Round 1game versus Listowel Emmets on Saturday February 22nd fell victim to the bad weather. Our minors are away to Beale on Saturday February 29th and away to Annascaul/Lispole/ Dingle on Saturday March 7th for Round 3. SENIOR B: Round 1, County League sees us take on Gneeveguilla B at home on Sunday March 8th. Round 2, our senior B is way to Rathmore B on March 15th. SENIOR A: Senior Mid Kerry League Round 5 saw our senior team take on Laune Rangers, at The Track on Sunday last. Laune Rangers had a 4 point win on this occasion. Round 4 versus Keel has been set for March 1st. Our seniors begin their Senior Co. League competition with a home game v Currow on March 8th. FUNDRAISING LOTTO JACKPOT-€12,400:
Our most recent Lotto draw was held in O' Shea’s Bar on Friday last. Drawn numbers were 10, 13, and 21 with 24 being the bonus number. We had 6 lucky consolation prize winners. €50 each to Marie Heasman, Milltown and Kathleen Breen, Beaufort. €25 each to Jer Joy, O'Sullivan-Daly, c/o Karl Daly, Mai and Anthony McKenna, Firies Cross and Maeve Burke, Kiltallagh. Congratulations to you all. Our next draw will be on Friday March 6th in Griffin’s Bar- with a jackpot of €12,400. Thank you to everyone for your continuous support and generosity.
This is our group (4) for the above competition. Dromid Pearses, Glenbeigh/Glencar Milltown/Castlemaine and Waterville. Milltown/Castlemaine will take on Waterville in Round 1 in April. Dates, times and venues all to be confirmed. Format is as follows: 1st placed team from each group advances to semi-finals, 4th placed side in each group goes into a relegation playoff system with the bottom sides from the other three groups. KERRY SENIORS Congratulations to the Kerry Senior Ladies management and panel on their 4th consecutive victory on Sunday last, over Tyrone in the Lidl National League. Comhghairdeas to Peter Keane and the Kerry Senior men’s panel also on their win over Meath in the National League. They take on Mayo next Saturday evening –go neirí an tádh libh.
